We have received reports that customers are receiving automated calls and/or text messages from a fraud location. The automated system is saying that your “(BANK NAME) debit card has been compromised, please press 1 to continue.”

This is not a legitimate call and/or message. Hang up immediately and do not release any information. IF you have released information to the automated call system, immediately call your bank , using a known public phone number, in order to report what information you have released.

ATTENTION DEBIT CARD CUSTOMERS:

In order to protect our customers from being a victim of International Debit Card fraud, Bank of Wolcott debit cards are no longer able to process outside of the United States. If you wish to use your debit card outside of the United States, please contact us in advance of your travel dates.

YOUR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT:

Social engineering is the art of manipulating people into performing actions or divulging confidential information, rather than by breaking in or using technical cracking techniques. While similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, the term typically applies to trickery or deception for the purpose of information gathering, fraud, or computer system access; in most cases the attacker never comes face-to-face with their victim.

BANK OF WOLCOTT will never contact you by phone or email asking you to confirm such confidential information as your account number and/or social security number. This information is highly confidential and as your financial institution, we would already have access to this information and therefore, no need to obtain it from you via phone or email.
